Rapid Recap (Rivier):
- A kill by senior Sam Mohammed (Killingworth, Conn.) started up the first set of the day. The Raiders swiftly replied with a kill of their own to start the point-for-point battle. Tied at 13, a successful attack by first year Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) and an impressive block by the defensive duo of junior Olivia Werner (Williston, VT.) and junior Ameesah Cotten (Newburgh, N.Y.) allowed the Chargers to take a two-point lead over the Raiders, 15-13. The Rivier offense was difficult to match as they quickly retracted the lead and reached 25, leaving the Chargers at 20.
- The second set began in a similar matter. Both teams took turns providing attacks, and earning kills. With the score even at 14, the Raiders separated themselves with a kill and three straight Charger attacking errors to gain a 17-14 lead. The Chargers, eager to catch up, fell short and dropped the second set 25-22.
- Senior Anna Allen (Los Angeles, CA) sparked the Charger lead with a serving ace right out of the gates. A bad set by the Raiders gave Colby-Sawyer a 2-0 advantage going into the third set. Rivier answered back with a kill and a serving ace of their own followed by two Charger attacking errors and another kill to set the score 5-2, Rivier. Mohammed shut down the Raider's reign with a controlling kill to spur a three-point run which would eventually tie the set up at 5. From there, the Raiders offense took off, acquiring set three 25-15.
Rapid Recap (Anna Maria):
- Coming off a game break, Colby-Sawyer put up six straight points to capture the lead over the Amcats in the first set. The six-point run consisted of an opening kill followed by a serving ace from first-year Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, ME), two kills from Mohammed, one from Majenski and finished with a successful attack from junior Ava LaValle (Peabody, Mass.). An eight-point run to tie the set at 10 show cased the Amcats resilience, however the Chargers were quick to respond putting up seven straight points to take back the lead and eventually take set one, 25-15.
- An attacking error by the Chargers allowed the Amcats to score first to start the second set. The Chargers reacted with another six-point run opening with a kill by Mohammed, three straight serving aces for Thornton, another kill for Mohammed and finished off with yet another serving ace by Thornton. Colby-Sawyer maintained their lead taking the second set off the Amcats, 25-14.
- Trailing by one, a robust kill from Thornton sparked a five-point run to gain a 10-7 advantage over Anna Maria. Another five-point run extended the Charger lead to seven to keep the Amcats in the rear-view mirror. With the score set at 22-14, a serving error followed by a ball handling error, both by Anna Maria, put the Chargers in game-point mode. Senior captain Riley Codman finished up the day with a forceful kill to take the third set 25-14.
