SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - March 4, 2020 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team fell at Springfield, 17-3, in a season opener for both teams. 
Colby-Sawyer will head to Florida this weekend to play 10 games in seven days at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. 
Noah Bleakley (Granby, Mass.) went 3-for-6 with five RBI to lead the Pride. Jack Cooney (Pittsfield, Mass.), Michael Barrett (Longmeadow, Mass.), Chad Shade (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Jake Gleason (South Dennis, Mass.) each registered a pair of hits and RBI.
Tim Unczur went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI for Colby-Sawyer. 
Jesse Galanti added a pair of hits in two at-bats. 
Tommy Sasso, 
Jake Choiniere and 
Ian Turpel each recorded a hit in their first collegiate appearance. 
Blake Roberge (Warwick, R.I.) earned his first collegiate win for Springfield, working 3.2 innings and permitting to runs on five hits. 
Tim Unczur took the loss after tossing the first inning with four runs allowed. 
Colby-Sawyer put a run across in its first at-bat when 
Jake Choiniere singled to score 
Liam Datres de la Blotier, who roped a double earlier in the inning.
Springfield responded with four runs in the bottom half highlighted by a two-run double from Gleason.
The home team scored two runs in the second and third to take an 8-1 lead after three. Bleakley picked up a couple of RBI in the second
Tommy Sasso knocked in a run with a double in the top of the fourth for the Chargers, but the run was quickly answered by a two-spot by Springfield in the bottom of the frame.
The Pride added another two in the fifth to make the margin 12-2.
Colby-Sawyer plated a run in the sixth off a 
Tim Unczur double.
In the bottom of the sixth, Springfield pushed five more runs across, to go in front 17-3 before the game was called due to darkness.
