Women's Volleyball Defeats Lasell at Tri-Match

NEWTON, Mass. - October 12, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at a tri-match on Saturday. The Chargers earned an important 3-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win over Lasell before falling to Manhattanville, 3-0. 

The Chargers defeated Lasell 12-25, 25-20, 25-7 and 25-17. Manhattanville then earned won by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-11. 

Colby-Sawyer is now 12-13 overall and 4-3 in the GNAC. The team will continue a lengthy road trip on Thursday at Rivier. 

In the morning match against Lasell, senior Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.) led all players with 10 kills on .500 hitting. First-year Olivia Werner (Williston, Vt.) and sophomore Sam Mohammed (Killingworth, Conn.) added eight kills apiece. Mohammed added 12 digs and four aces. Senior Rebecca Straubel (Altamont, N.Y.) had a team best 13 digs and six aces. Sophomore Anna Allen (Los Angeles, Calif.) contributed 34 assists. Sophomore Maeve Powell (Orange, Mass.) was 5-for-5 on kill attempts. 

Werner then led Colby-Sawyer against Manhattanville with five kills. Senior Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.) picked up a team best nine digs. Senior Olivia Goodrich (Epping, N.H.) registered 14 assists, while sophomore Riley Codman (Dublin, N.H.) chipped in with three kills.
