WATERVILLE, Maine - January 26, 2018 - Sophomore
Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) recorded game-highs of 19 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team past Thomas College, 76-48, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action Friday evening.
Colby-Sawyer sweeps the two-game series with Thomas after holding the Terriers to less than 50 points in both meetings. The Chargers improve to 12-5 overall and 9-2 in the NAC. The team will stay in Maine to play at UMaine-Farmington on Saturday at 3 p.m. Thomas drops to 8-10 overall and 5-6 in conference play. The Terriers host New England College tomorrow at 3 p.m.
The 18 rebounds is one shy of tying a single-game record for the Chargers. Bean had an 18-rebound game at Johnson on January 3, 2017. Junior
Jourdain Bell (Manchester, N.H.) added 13 points, while sophomore
Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) was the third Chargers in double digits with 12. Coffey also had six rebounds and three steals.
Thomas was led by sophomore Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) and Carlos Gonzalez (Kennebunk, Maine) who tallied 11 points apiece. Gonzalez pulled in 10 rebounds for the double-double. John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) picked up six points and three rebounds.
The game remained even through the first ten minutes as both teams exchanged points on each end of the floor. The Chargers used a balanced attack offensively to open up to a 31-21 lead at the break, as

Austin Boudreau (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) ach contributed six points. Bean was a force on the boards with 14 first half rebounds. Mackinnon kept the Terriers within striking distance with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting.
Colby-Sawyer pulled away throughout the second half as they outscored Thomas 45-27 and dominated the glass 25-9. Bean continued to control the paint as he added another 13 points to lead the way. Thomas struggled offensively as they shot 2-for-15 from behind the arch.
