Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 NAC Match at Castleton

CASTLETON, Vt. - September 30, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team had its four-match winning streak snapped on Saturday after a 2-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) loss at Castleton.

The Chargers drop to 4-5 overall and suffer their first conference loss of the season to dip to 3-1. The team will step out of conference action on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. contest at Pine Manor.

The home team got on the board just 3:33 into the match when Fidele Rutayisire sent a through ball to Seraphin Iradukunda, which led to a breakaway goal.

The Spartans then received another early strike from Iradukunda, 2:22 into the second half. After his initial shot was saved, he cleaned up the rebound for his sixth goal of the season.

The Chargers were able to keep the difference at two goals for the remaining 20 minutes despite playing a man down and then two men down for the final five minutes.

Castleton keeper Aaron Parker made seven stops in the win, while Shane Sacks finished with eight saves for Colby-Sawyer.

The Spartans held a slim 15-12 edge in shots, while Colby-Sawyer took 15 corner kicks to Castleton's six.
