PROVIDENCE, R.I. – September 1, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell to Johnson & Wales, 2-0, in a season opener for both teams on Friday afternoon.
JWU goes to 1-0 and will be back on the field Sunday when they welcome Salve Regina at 5 p.m. Colby-Sawyer is 0-1 and will play Salve Regina tomorrow at noon.
Teagan Drake (Westbury, Vt.) took a pass from Jason Cruz (Providence, R.I.) and scored into the net from outside the box to give the home side a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. The Wildcats added the game's second goal with time running out in the first half. Senior Chris Schmid (Clifton Park, N.Y.) headed the ball to Jazario Brimmer (Pembroke, Bermuda) and he lobbed it over the Colby-Sawyer keeper for the first goal of his collegiate career.
Colby-Sawyer tilted the pitch to its direction in the second half with a 5-2 advantage in shots, but could not get on the board to fall by a 2-0 score. Junior
Noah Camelo (Marblehead, Mass.) led the team with a pair of shots.

Shane Sacks (Huntington Station, N.Y.) made three saves in 65:30, while senior
Sean Babinski (Concord, Calif.) played the remainder of the game.
JWU keeper Nicholas Mancini had two saves in the win.
