NEWPORT, R.I. - September 2, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team was edged by Salve Regina, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers drop to 0-2 and will resume action this week against nationally ranked UMass Boston and Middlebury.
Salve went in front in the fourth minute off a goal from Donald Igo.
Colby-Sawyer found an equalizer in the 28th minute when
Jake Sykes set up teammate Mohammed Jafar who deposited the ball in the back of the net.
The match reached halftime knotted at 1-1 with the Seahawks holding a slim 6-5 edge in shots.
The home side notched the eventual game-winner 12 minutes into the second frame off the foot of John Julian.
Sean Babinski made 10 stops in net for the Chargers. Michael Payan had eight saves for Salve Regina.
