CASTLETON, Vt. – April 22, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team swept Castleton 9-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division contest on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer evens its overall record to 10-10 and improves to 5-0 in the conference. The Chargers will conclude the regular season tomorrow with a home match against Thomas. Castleton falls to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in NAC East play
The Chargers opened the day with a sweep of doubles play to take a 3-0 lead.
Dean Boodakian and
Ryan Sawyer combined at the top spot to defeat Seth Marcil and Quentin Barthe, 8-5. At No. 2
Gustav Jigrup and
Matt Burke combined to down Jared Wheeler and Tyler Wilcox, 8-3.
Cam Lynch and
Will Triebel cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 3 over Brody Wagner and Darwin Norris.
Colby-Sawyer then won all six singles flights in straight sets.
Jigrup earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at the top flight, while Boodakian won by the same scores at No. 3. Sawyer picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at the second position. At No. 4,
Ryan Broderick won both sets by a 6-2 score. Burke dropped just one game in the first set to win 6-1, 6-0 in the fifth slot, while
Mike White was unblemished at the sixth flight 6-0, 6-0.
