Barry Schoonmaker enters his fourteenth season at Colby-Sawyer in 2022-23.
Schoonmaker has been very successful in New London as he was named the 2013, 2016, 2018 NAC and 2019 GNAC Coach of the Year, while winning seven NAC East Division Titles, six NAC Crossover Championships and making six NCAA Tournament Appearances over his tenure.
In the spring of 2022, Schoonmaker guided the Chargers to the GNAC Championship, where the team fell to Eastern Nazarene College.
Prior to Colby-Sawyer, Schoonmaker spent fourteen years as the head men's tennis coach at Cornell University, guided the Big Red to ten straight winning seasons and five national rankings in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2007.
Prior to his tenure at Cornell, Schoonmaker was head tennis coach at Siena College from 1986-91 and assistant manager and assistant tennis pro at Southwood Tennis Club (Albany, NY) from 1986-89. He also served as the head tennis pro at Colonie Country Club (Voorheesville, NY) from 1987-93.
A 1986 graduate of Houghton College in Houghton, NY, Schoonmaker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He is a USPTR certified pro and a USRSA certified racket stringer.

Assistant Coach Lynn Miller
Lynn Miller returns for her fourth season as the assistant coach on the Colby-Sawyer tennis coaching staff.
Miller comes to Colby-Sawyer following a 35 year stint as the head coach of the men's and women's tennis teams at Wheaton College from 1980-2015. Miller posted a 373-236-2 record as the head coach of the women's tennis program and a 259-160 record in men's tennis.
Miller has been inducted into the United States Tennis Association (USTA) New England Hall of Fame, Wheaton College Athletics Yowell Hall of Fame and the Plymouth State University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Miller also has collected nine Coach of the Year awards and multiple United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) New England Coach of the Year accolades.
Lynn graduated from Plymouth State University in 1974. Miller played field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse as an undergraduate at PSC excelling in each of these team sports but it was on the tennis courts where Miller really left her mark.
