BENNINGTON, VT - April 2, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team opened North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East action on Sunday with a 9-0 win over MCLA at the Bennington Tennis Center in Bennington, VT.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 5-9 overall and 1-0 in the NAC East. The Chargers are off until next Sunday when they will play at Southern Maine and Johnson State. The Trailblazers play at Rhode Island College on Thursday.
The Chargers took all three doubles matches by an 8-1 score. The duo of
Gustav Jigrup and
Alex Wright won at the top flight, while
Ryan Sawyer and
Dean Boodakian and
Cam Lynch and
Andrew Peloquin won at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Jigrup and Wright then won at the top two singles flights by scores of 6-1, 6-0. Sawyer dropped just two games at No. 3 to earn a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Ryan Broderick and Michael White did not drop a game to win their No. 4 and No. 6 matches.
Matt Burke also won in straight sets at No. 5 by scores of 6-2, 6-3.
