HENNIKER, N.H. - February 18, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team earned an important 87-79 road victory in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular-season finale for both teams.

The win boosts Colby-Sawyer to 12-13 overall and 9-9 in the NAC, while NEC sees their season come to a close at 11-13 overall and 6-11 in league play. Colby-Sawyer qualified for the NAC postseason as the sixth-seed and will travel to No. 3 Thomas on Tuesday for the first round.

Six different players scored in double-figures for the Chargers, led by Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) with a team-best 18 points. Taylor Grande (Bedford, N.H.) was close behind with 17 points in addition to game-highs in assists (five) and steals (six) while Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) chipped in with 16 points. Milani Hicks (Scarborough, Maine) and Keenan Caron (Manchester, N.H.) chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Pilgrims received a game-high 27 points from freshman Izaiah Winston-Brooks (Roxbury, Mass.). He shot 9-for17 from the floor with two three-pointers and added a 7-for-9 effort from the free-throw line. Alonzo Cooper (Hyde Park, Mass.) scored 15 points off the bench and hit all six free-throws he attempted on the day. Sophomore Jason Jones (Roxbury, Mass.) recorded a game-high 13 points.

Colby-Sawyer led by 28 points with 10:34 remaining in the game, but the Pilgrims used a 25-7 run to make it a 10-point game with 2:50 left to play. NEC would come within six points over the next minute but the Chargers used the clock to their advantage and hit some free-throws in the final minute to claim the eight-point victory.

In the first half, the Chargers hit 18 shots from the floor, including six three-pointers, and went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line to score 52 points. The Pilgrims overcame an early deficit to tie the score at 16-16 midway through the half, but the Chargers took control from there, starting with an 8-0 run in a two-minute stretch for a 24-16 lead.

Colby-Sawyer scored 28 of their 52 points in the nine minutes of the half while holding NEC to 26 points for over three minutes towards the end of the half
