FARMINGTON, Maine - February 10, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team earned an important 70-60 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road win at UMaine-Farmington on Friday evening.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 11-12 overall and evens its NAC record to 8-8. The Chargers will remain in Maine to play at Thomas on Saturday at 1 p.m. UMF falls to 9-13 overall and 8-7 in the NAC. The Beavers will host New England College tomorrow at 1 p.m.

Jourdain Bell led the all players with 22 points. Patrick Coffey added 15 points and nine rebounds, while Milani Hicks contributed 13 points and eight boards. Taylor Grande filled the stat sheet with nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Dana Bean finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

Amir Moss led UMF with 12 points. Riley Robinson tallied 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Michael Atkins was the third Beaver in double figures with 10 points.

The Chargers started out on a 13-2 run in the early going. UMF scored their first basket at the 14 minute mark when Issac Witham hit a jumper but the Chargers came right back down the floor to hit a couple free throws.

UMF went on 14-4 run to close the gap to one with the score at 17-16 and stayed close minutes later at 21-19. Colby-Sawyer was in front 29-25 in the waning seconds, but UMF received a trey from Amir Moss to make the score 29-28 in favor of the Chargers at halftime.

The Beavers opened the second half with a quick three pointer from Issac Witham to take a 31-29 lead. Patrick Coffey came right back down the floor to a hit a layup which tied the game at 31. UMF hit three three-pointers to open the half but the Chargers stayed in the game with multiple three pointers of their own from Jourdain Bell.

Neither team could hit a basket for the next four minutes as both teams had multiple turnovers. After a Bill Ruby layup broke the scoring drought, the Chargers scored 10 unanswered points to take an 11 point lead. The Beavers started to make a come back but a Jourdain Bell three stopped the momentum and pushed the lead back to 10.

Riley Robinson closed the gap again with a three pointer to make the score 64-57 but the Chargers pulled away a second time with free throws from Bell and Taylor Grande.
