POULTNEY, Vt. - December 2, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team opened North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with an 80-50 road win at Green Mountain on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the NAC. The Chargers will host Castleton on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Green Mountain drops to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference action.
Junior
Jourdain Bell (Manchester, N.H.) led 11 Chargers in scoring with 18 points. Sophomore
Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) scored 14 points, while freshman
Austin Boudreau (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) chipped in 12 points in 16 minutes off the bench. Sophomore
Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) added eight points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
The Chargers opened the game on a 6-2 run and never looked back. Colby-Sawyer's defense held the home team to just five made field goals and led 39-22 after 20 minutes behind Coffey's 10 first half points.
Bell carried the Chargers in the second half by scoring 16 of his 18 points in the stanza. He was 6-of-8 from the floor and 4-of-4 from beyond the arc as Colby-Sawyer increased its lead thanks to making 8-of-16 three-point attempts.
Colby-Sawyer outrebounded the Eagles 51-40 and held the home team to 27.8% shooting from the floor.
