BIDDEFORD, Maine - November 17, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team dropped its season opener to Colby, 72-60, in the semifinals of the Hampton Inn Tip-Off Tournament hosted by the University of New England.
The Chargers (0-1) will play Saint Joseph's (Brooklyn) in tomorrow's consolation game at 1 p.m. Saint Joseph's fell to UNE, 122-102, earlier Friday evening. UNE (1-1) will play Colby (1-0) in the championship game at 3 p.m.
Colby-Sawyer received a team best 14 points from freshman
Austin Boudreau in his collegiate debut.
Jourdain Bell added nine points, while
Dana Bean chipped in six points and a team-high eight rebounds.
The Chargers outshot the Mules 36.1% to 33.3%, but Colby made two more three-pointers and four more free throws than Colby-Sawyer. Colby held a 52-39 advantage on the glass leading to a 25-10 discrepancy in second chance points.
