JOHNSON, Vt. – October 29, 2016 – Colby-Sawyer College claimed the 2016 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday, October 29.

Colby-Sawyer, which has finished as the runner-up the past four seasons, won the program's first title with an impressive 25 points with five runners in the top eight. The 8k championship race included 101 total runners, representing 11 schools.

UMaine-Farmington was a distant second at 87 points, while Castleton was third (88), Thomas was fourth (128), followed by Maine Maritime (141), Husson (150), Lyndon (161) UMaine-Presque Isle (178), New England College (193), Johnson State (312) and Green Mountain (333).
Freshman
Peter Bakker (Barkhamsted, Conn.) led the Chargers and finished the race as runner-up in a time of 26:29.3.
Senior
Scott Shaw (Norfolk, Conn.) finished third in 26:58.2.
Senior
Brandon Legendre (Waterford, Vt.) also collected a top-5 finish with a time of 27:12.6 to place fifth.
Junior
Kody Frye (Keene, N.H.) and freshman
Benjamin Jones (Enfield, N.H.) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in times of 27:24.8 and 27:27.3.
The Chargers also received strong races from senior
