Biography

As a senior: For the second year in a row, Bakker guided the Chargers to a GNAC title. He finished second out of 89 in a time of 26:47 on the 8k course. For his efforts, he was named to an all-conference first team for the fourth year in a row. He added a pair of fourth place finishes throughout the season. He opened the year with a fourth at the 2nd Annual Charger Invitational to help the team finish second. Later in the season, Bakker posted a season best 8k time of 26:22.4 to place fourth at Suffolk, where the Chargers finished third out of 24 teams. 

As a junior: Bakker led the Chargers to a GNAC title in the team's first year with the league. He placed fourth to earn his third-straight First Team All-Conference honor. Bakker posted a total of four top-4 finishes on the season, highlighted by an individual win at the Runnin' Monks Invitational. He toured the 8K course in 27:52.4, nearly 20 seconds in front of the second place finisher, to help the Chargers win the race. Bakker was named GNAC Runner of the Week twice during the season. 

As a sophomore: Bakker earned All-NAC First Team honors for finishing in the top-8 at the NAC championship. Bakker, last year's NAC Rookie of the Year, led the Chargers with a third place finish to help the team claim its second-straight conference title. The two-time All-NAC First Team honoree finished with a time of 26:55. Earlier in the season, Bakker placed second at UMF and seventh at Emmanuel. Bakker finished the season with an impressive finish of 80th place out of 370 runners at the NCAA Regional. He clocked in at 26:53.5. 

As a freshman: Bakker turned in an impressive first season as a Charger. He led the team at the NAC Championship by finishing as the runner-up. For his efforts, he was named the 2016 NAC Rookie of the Year and All-NAC First Team as Colby-Sawyer won the program's first conference title. Bakker, a four-time NAC and ECAC Rookie of the Week honoree, recorded four top-11 finishes during the season, including a ninth place out of 99 in his collegiate debut to help Colby-Sawyer win the Roger Williams Invitational. He finished 10th out of 192 runners at the Emmanuel Saints Invitational, where Colby-Sawyer placed third out of 23 institutions. Colby-Sawyer finished a close second at the Keene State Invitational where Bakker finished 11th.

At Northwestern Regional: Bakker was on the cross country and track & field teams.
