WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – March 20, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader against MCLA on Friday. The Trailblazers won by scores of 16-2 and 10-8.
Colby-Sawyer ends the spring break trip at 0-10 and will head back north to host Castleton on Tuesday for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader.
GAME 1 – MCLA 16, COLBY-SAWYER 2The Trailblazers had the bats working in game one, recording 18 hits and scoring at least one run in every inning.
Tyler Benoit and Mike Sullivan led MCLA with three hits apiece. Benoit had a team-high four RBI, while Chase Preite scored four times. Preite took the mound to work a perfect seventh inning after playing the first six innings as the designated hitter.
Drew Inglesi and
Jackson Musco each contributed a hit and a stolen base for Colby-Sawyer.
Andrew Clay threw one inning for the Chargers, giving up an unearned run on one hit with one strikeout.
GAME 2 – MCLA 10, Colby-Sawyer 8In the second game of the day, the Chargers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings before MCLA scored four times in the third to take the lead.
Colby-Sawyer would tie it off MCLA starter Robert Jutras in the fourth inning, but the Trailblazers quickly regained the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.
The Chargers would mount a rally in the bottom of the sixth inning after falling behind 10-4. Colby-Sawyer would get to Jutras for four runs and ultimately chase him from the game. Eamonn Andre would enter and record the final two outs of the sixth and pitch a perfect seventh to earn the save.
Chris Hood took the loss, but gave up just two earned runs in 4 2/3 innings.
Jeff Dunn tossed a perfect 1 2/3 innings of relief for the Chargers.

Brett Emmertz and
Justin Devoid each had three hits for Colby-Sawyer.
Jackson Musco drove in a team best three runs. Emmertz finished the trip with a .542 batting average to lead the team.
Benoit led MCLA going 3-for-3 and scored three times. Nate Alibozek went 4-for-4 and drove in four runs, while Slayter Aubin knocked in four on a pair of sac flies.
Jutras went 5 1/3 innings and struck out six to earn the win for MCLA.
