Wol Majong (Manchester, N.H.) became the 17th men's basketball player to reach 1000 career points as he connected on a 15-foot pull-up jump shot with 11:42 left in the second half in Saturday's 83-67 victory over Rivier.
The Chargers improve to 4-1 after defeating the Raiders in the Rivier Tip-Off Tournament consolation game. Colby-Sawyer will open North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Wednesday, December 2 at home against Green Mountain. Rivier drops to 0-4.
Majong finished the game with 1004 career points after scoring 17 in both games of the tournament. He added a career-high nine assists and tied a career best with six steals. Senior
Peter Donato (Portland, Maine) piled up the points for the second straight game. After scoring 31 on Friday night, Donato shot 11-for-16 for 28 points and was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts. Sophomore
Cam Meservey (Bedford, N.H.) hit five of 5-of-8 three-pointers and finished with 17 points to tie his career-high.
The game was knotted at 38 apiece at the half, but the Chargers pulled away in the second frame thanks to 57.7 percent shooting from the floor.
Rivier was led by Andre Ruff's double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds. Victor Davilla also reached double figures with 12 points.
