Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. - October 19, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team earned a 2-1 road win at Castleton on Saturday in a battle of North Atlantic Conference undefeateds. Colby-Sawyer dealt the Spartans their only regular season conference loss last year as well.

The Chargers improve to 14-3 overall and remain unbeaten in the NAC at 7-0. The Spartans fall to 10-6 on the year with a 6-1 record in the NAC.
Karley Hamilton earned the win in net, finishing with five saves on the night. Jessica Binkowski took the loss for Castleton, making six saves in the effort.
The first goal came early in the game, off the foot of midfielder Jenna Bostwick. The junior lined up for a corner kick and curled an in-swinger that glanced off the crossbar and into the Colby-Sawyer net to put the Spartans up 1-0 in the fifth minute of play.
In the 15 minute, Colby-Sawyer nearly answered.
Lauren Bernard played a brilliant through-ball up the middle to
Stephanie Huntley, who sprinted onto the ball and beat the Spartan keeper, but placed it just wide of the near post.
The Chargers drew even with an equalizer in the 30th minute.
Michelle Upham scored her team-leading 11th goal off a ball from Bernard. Upham came off the bench minutes earlier and played one of her first touches into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
After the halftime break, Colby-Sawyer capitalized on their first opportunity, taking a 2-1 lead early in the second half.
Adrienne Bender one-touched a through ball from
Heather Faasse past Binkowski to put the Chargers ahead.
Castleton did all it could to pressure the Chargers into conceding a second goal. Their best look came in the waning moments of the game. In the 90th minute, Mallory Costello collected a cross in the middle of the box, and dished it out as Colby-Sawyer defenders swarmed her. Halie Roberge had an open look at the net a ripped a shot. The ball never reached the goal however, as defender
Sarah Little blocked the shot. The Chargers cleared the resulting corner kick as time expired.
