QUINCY, Mass. – January 29, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team cruised to a 79-38 victory over Eastern Nazarene, in TCCC action Thursday evening. Junior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) led all players with 21 points and eight rebounds. The Chargers improve to 11-6 overall and 5-1 in the TCCC.

Colby-Sawyer jumped out to a 5-0 lead after a Duffy layup and a three-pointer from senior Ellen Naughton (Reading, Mass.). The opening bucket was the beginning of a long sustained 25-11 run over the course of 11 minutes that saw the visitors gain control of the game. The Crusaders responded in spurts but could not sustain consistent offensive production as the Chargers went into the half with the 19 point, 39-20, lead.

The Chargers did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game as they shot over 50% in each half. Colby-Sawyer also won the battle of the boards finishing with a 47-33 advantage. The Chargers also were hot shooting the trey, as they knocked down 9-18 for the game.

In the second half, it was the Crusaders who struck first when Jessica Schoppee (Scarborough, ME) sank two free throws en route to a 10-3 Crusader run. And just when the game seemed like it was within reach, the Chargers bore down and began their 37-9 march to victory. Christine Tucker had tallied a team-high 17 points for the Crusaders.

Senior Emma Pasquale (Eliot, Maine) registered 12 points and a season-high six blocks in the win. Pasquale sits in second place all-time in career blocks and trails Rebecca Hooker '84 by six.

Senior Kali Coleman (Portsmouth, N.H.) shot 4-6 from beyond the arc and finished with 12 points. Senior Kayt Racz (Worthington, Mass.) tallied nine points on 3-5 shooting from three-point land. Freshman Maggie Rossi (Fairhaven, Mass.) recorded her second game of the season with nine assists and zero turnovers.

The Chargers return home on Saturday, January 31 for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off with Roger Williams.
