Biography

As a senior: Sexton concluded his illustrious career as the most prolific scorer in the program's history. Sexton is the all-time leader in career points (145), goals (56) and assists (33). He added numerous awards to his long list of accomplishments at the end of the 2017 season. Sexton earned his second consecutive NAC Player of the Year award to become the first Charger to be named a conference Player of the Year more than once. He also was named to the All-NAC First Team for the fourth time in his career. Sexton garnered All-New England Region First Team accolades from United Soccer Coaches, previously known as the NSCAA. He became the first Charger to earn three awards from the association. Sexton added a nod to the New England Soccer Journal Best XIs Third Team. Sexton, a seven-time NAC Player of the Week in his career, led the Chargers in 2017 with 33 points on 11 goals and 11 assists. Five of his goals were game-winners, which was 26th most in the nation. Sexton finished the season among the national leaders in points per game (29th, 1.94), assists (22nd, 11) and assists per game (15th, .65).

As a junior: Sexton, a team co-captain, was named the 2016 NAC Player of the Year. He was also named to the All-NAC First Team for the third straight season, ECAC Division III New England First Team and NSCAA All-New England Region Third Team. Sexton led the eighth most potent offense in the country (3.17 goals per game) with 33 points on 15 goals and three assists. Three of his goals were game-winners including one in a 2-1 victory over Castleton. Sexton once again ranked among the top players in the nation. He finished 30th in goals, 43rd in points, 27th in goals per game (.83) and 41st in points per game (1.83). He has scored at least 30 points in each of his three seasons and is the Colby-Sawyer men's soccer programs all-time leader in career points (112) and goals (45) and is second in career assists (22) to teammate Andrew Clothier.

As a sophomore: Sexton improved upon his remarkable first season with the Chargers as he became recognized as one of the top players in the nation. Sexton garnered numerous awards once again and found himself ranked near the top of the national leaders in several categories. He ranked sixth in the nation in points (49), 10th in assists (13) and assists per game (.68), fourth in points per game (2.58) and 11th in total goals (18). Sexton was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-New England Region Third Team to become the fifth Colby-Sawyer men's soccer player to be honored by the NSCAA and first since Nic DeZenzo '08 who was named to the Third Team in 2007. Sexton, who earned All-NAC First Team accolades for the second straight season, led all NAC players with 49 points on 18 goals and 13 assists. He also recorded five game-winning goals to lead the conference. In conference games only, Sexton registered a league best 38 points and 15 goals. He was second with eight assists. He finished the year with 18 goals, 13 assists and 49 points, which are all single season records. Sexton ends his sophomore campaign ranked second in program history in career points (79), second in goals (30) and third in assists (19). Sexton added an NSCAA Division III National Player of the Week, a NAC Player of the Week, and an ECAC Player of the Week awards during the season.

As a freshman: Sexton turned in one of the best seasons in Colby-Sawyer history in 2014. He led the team with 12 goals, which is tied for third most in a single season and was tied for the team lead with 30 points, which is tied for second most in a single season. Sexton was named NAC Rookie of the Year to become the third Charger to earn conference Rookie of the Year honors and first since 2001. He also was named All-NAC First Team. Sexton also became the first Charger to be named ECAC Co-Rookie of the Year. He was a two-time NAC Player of the Week and three-time NAC Rookie of the Week recipient. He also garnered ECAC Co-Rookie of the Week and ECAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades. Sexton finished the season 59th in the nation in total points and 62nd in goals. 

At Barrington: Sexton was a soccer player for the Eagles. He helped the team to a RIIL State Championship in 2012 and was named to the All-Tournament team. In 2013, Sexton was named Second Team All-Division.
