BASEBALL TAKES ON MARY WASHINGTON ON DAY TWO OF SPRING TRIP

Myrtle Beach, SC – Day 2 in Myrtle Beach for the Colby-Sawyer baseball team was a match with the Falcons of the University of Mary Washington. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Zach Ferris (Stratham, NH) was the starting pitcher for the Chargers, and Jackson Beale was the starting pitcher for the Falcons. 

  • Mike McLeer (Saco, ME) singled to center field in the top of the 1st inning. 

  • George Rizzo scored a run for the Falcons in the bottom of the 1st. 

  • Rizzo hit an RBI single in the 2nd inning to put the Falcons up by two. 

  • Sean Smith and William Tuttle both earned RBIs in the 3rd inning for the Falcons. 

  • The Falcons scored five runs in the 4th and 5th inning combined. 

  • McLeer hit an RBI single in the 6th inning for the Chargers to score Jacob Putnam (North Haverhill, NH). 

  • Mason Malloy hit an RBI single in the 7th inning for the Falcons. 

  • The Chargers stayed strong as Jared Schmitt (Surry, NH) hit a single into left field in the 8th inning. In the 9th inning, Nick Johnson (Manchester, NJ) hit a single into left field. 

  • The Falcons won the game 10-1. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Ferris threw two strikeouts for the Chargers. 

  • McLeer ended the game on two hits and one RBI. McLeer is currently batting .360 on the season. 

  • Johnson was 1-1 from the plate on Sunday. 

  • Eric Powell ended the game on three RBIs for the Falcons. 

  • This was the third of nine matches in Myrtle Beach for the Chargers. 

Up Next: 

On Monday, the Chargers will play two games against Western Connecticut State (11am and 2pm).
