MEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES HEARTBREAKER AGAINST RAIDERS

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team competed in a back-and-forth matchup with the Rivier Raiders on Wednesday evening. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Dante DeMoor (Ronse, Ooost-Vlaanderen, Belgium) converted a layup to get the Chargers on the board. Tobey Bellows (Waterbury, VT) scored three threes, going for 3-3 in the span of four minutes. Sean Peterson (Chester, NH) and Emmanuel Adarkwa (Lawrenceville, GA) both scored buckets. Peterson and Logan Lapierre Caissie (Ontario, Canada) both made baskets. With 7:17 left in the half, Peterson made one from beyond the arc. Lapierre Caissie and Bellows both made layups. DeMoor made a layup in the last minute of the half. The Chargers led 28-27 at the halftime break. 

  • DeMoor scored a basket to start the scoring in the second half. Bellows scored another three less than 20 seconds later. Andrew Blunt (Alexandria, VA) and Bellows both scored baskets. Adarkwa scored the next two buckets for the Chargers. Lapierre Caissie and Bellows both scored baskets as they trailed by four points with 8:41 left on the clock. Adarkwa scored a jumper with 6:48 left in the game. Lapierre Caissie and Adarkwa both scored as the Chargers trailed by two with 2:12 left in the game. Peterson made a three to cut the deficit to one point with 1:31 left. The Raiders won the game 59-58. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Peterson broke the Colby-Sawyer single-game record for rebounds by recording 26 rebounds. Peterson also scored 10 points. 

  • Bellows ended the game on 20 points. 

  • Adarkwa ended the game on 12 points. 

  • Izaiah Shaw-Glen scored 22 points for the Raiders. Shaw-Glen entered the 1,000 point club on Wednesday, as Shaw-Glen now has over 1,000 career points. 

  • The Chargers scored 28 points in the paint. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will have another game at the Hogan Sports Center on Saturday afternoon at 3pm as the team takes on Mitchell.
