Nine Chargers Recognized in GNAC Weekly Awards

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Colby-Sawyer's fall athletic teams continue to make their mark across the conference as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference released its weekly awards. Five Chargers collected major honors, while four more earned spots on the weekly honor roll.

Ashlee Blashock (Lebanon, N.H.) was named Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week after a career milestone weekend. Blashock totaled 23 saves across two games, including 12 against Saint Joseph (Conn.) and 11 more against Vermont State Castleton. Along the way, she reached her 100th career save, anchoring the Chargers' defense.

Gabriela Calidonio (Flagler Beach, Fla.) earned Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week after posting 16 saves across two contests. Calidonio recorded two saves in a midweek non-conference matchup with Keene State before delivering a season-high 14 stops in a GNAC showdown against Saint Joseph (Conn.).

Evan Vitagliano (Groton, Conn.) received both Men's Cross-Country Runner of the Week and Rookie of the Week after pacing the Chargers with a time of 27:33.38 in the 8K race and finishing within the top 100. Vitagliano's performance has highlighted his immediate impact as a first-year athlete on the men's squad.

Leah O'Neill (Peabody, Mass.) was named Women's Cross-Country Runner of the Week for her strong outing in the 6K. O'Neill crossed the line in 24:21.60, finishing 63rd and leading the Chargers to a successful team finish. 

Jacklyn Anderson (Hanover, N.H.) claimed Women's Cross-Country Rookie of the Week honors after finishing close behind O'Neill with a time of 24:46.50 in the 6K, finishing 74th.  Marking a standout showing in just her second collegiate race. 

Honor Roll Mentions:
 

  • Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) totaled 53 assists, 12 digs, and 4 aces during a tough volleyball slate against UMass Boston and Saint Joseph (Conn.).
  • Lauren Ardolino (Milford, Conn.) scored twice on the week for women's soccer, tallying goals against Keene State and Saint Joseph (Conn.).
  • Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) shined defensively for volleyball, collecting 26 digs, and adding 8 aces across the week's action.
  • Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) provided the offensive spark for field hockey, scoring once against Vermont State Castleton and twice against Saint Joseph (Conn.).
