CHARGERS PLAY AT PELICAN STADIUM AGAINST THE MOUNTIES

MYTRLE BEACH, SC - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team continued their trip in Myrtle Beach with a game against the Mount Aloysius Mounties at Pelicans Stadium, home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans who are the Single-A affiliate for the Chicago Cubs.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers would strike early in this one after a lead off infield single by Dylan Watson (Byfield, Mass.) where he would come in to score on a wild pitch that would put the games first run on the board. The Mounties would come back to even the game at one with a double to left field by Cook, scoring Tunison. 
  • The Mounties would take the lead in the third before Watson would double in the fourth on a shot into right center field, scoring Devin Montalvo (Coram, NY) tying the game at two. The Mounties would go on to score the games next four runs to take a 6-2 advantage.
  • Janai Cruz (Manchester, NH) would send a shot into left center field that would find his way over the fence for his first home run of the season, after a Noah Staffier (Beverly, Mass.) double.
On the Mound: 
  • Will Carpenter (Medfield, Mass.) would get the start, and throw six innings, allowing five runs, on seven hits. Trevor Robichaud (Leominster, Mass.) would follow after a 45 weather delay, and toss one inning, allowing three runs on three hits. Hayden Goerlich (Amherst, NH) would throw 0.2 innings allowing eight runs on six hits. 
At the Plate:
  • Janai Cruz would lead the way for the Chargers, powering a home run for two runs batted in. Dylan Watson would go two-for-four with a run batted in and scored a run. 
Up Next:
The Chargers return to the field this evening in a make-up contest against McDaniel College at 7:00PM back at the Cal Ripken Complex.
