WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HAS EYES SET ON SECOND NATIONALLY RANKED OPPONENT

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team (4-6) travels to Amherst College on Wednesday to take on the #15 Amherst Mammoths (5-0) at 7pm. 

The Chargers will play their last game of 2025 on Wednesday. The Chargers are coming off a loss to NESCAC opponent Middlebury on Saturday. This will be the 7th straight road game for Colby-Sawyer. 

The Mammoths are undefeated on the season, coming off a 66-49 win against Wesleyan on Tuesday. This will be Amherst's second GNAC opponent of the season, having played Albertus Magnus a week ago. 

The Chargers: 

  • Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) – The sophomore guard is leading the Chargers in points this season (12.3 ppg). Drury is coming off a 10-point game against Middlebury, the sixth double-digit game of the season for the sophomore. 

  • Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) – The junior guard is coming off a season-high 10-point performance against Middlebury. Chick has 16 steals this season. 

  • Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) – The first-year guard is second in points for the Chargers (11.9 ppg). Leonard has five 15+ point games this season so far. 

The Mammoths: 

  • Annie McCarthy – The senior guard is averaging 11.8 points per game. McCarthy scored a season-high 19 points on Tuesday. 

  • Elizabeth Cain – The sophomore forward is averaging 7.4 points per game. Cain scored 13 points on Tuesday. 

  • Anna Tranum – The senior guard is averaging 12.8 points per game. Tranum had nine rebounds and 11 points on Tuesday. 

The Historical Matchup: 

The two teams have played each other in each of the last two seasons, with the Mammoths winning both. The Chargers have won one of the last five games against Amherst. 

Looking Ahead: 

After this game, the Chargers won't return to action until the new year, when they play Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts on January 3.
