MEN'S BASKETBALL ENDS SEMESTER AT HOME AGAINST FALCONS

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team played against the Fitchburg State Falcons on Sunday afternoon in the Hogan Sports Center. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • The Chargers got off to a fast 8-0 start in New London, with two jumpers from Emmanuel Adarkwa (Lawrenceville, GA), and layups from Tobey Bellows and Sean Peterson (Chester, NH). Another basket from Adarkwa and two baskets from Bellows helped the Chargers to a 14-11 lead. Adarkwa would score five more points in the next two minutes. Elijah Thomas (Fairfax, VA) would make a layup to put the Chargers up by one point. Andrew Blunt (Alexandria, VA) was subbed in with 6:51 left in the first half. In the next six minutes, Blunt converted a layup and drained three shots from three-point range making it 11 points in six minutes for the sophomore. With about a minute left in the first half, Peterson made a layup. The Falcons would lead 45-39 at the half. 

  • Peterson would make two layups, and Thomas would make a three early in the second half. Logan Lapierre Caissie (Ontario, Canada) and Adarkwa would both make layups as the Falcons would lead 54-50 with 16:14 left in the game. A dunk from Junior Efosa and a three from Blunt would see the Chargers go on a 5-0 run. Bellows would score a three and less than a minute later, would score a layup. With less than three minutes to go, Thomas and Adarkwa would both make buckets. The Falcons would go on to win the game 90-81. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Adarkwa would score a career-high 22 points and would also record six rebounds. 

  • Blunt scored 14 points on Sunday, making four shots from three-point-range. 

  • Peterson finished the game with 10 points and 9 rebounds. 

  • Jalen Jackson led the scoring for the Falcons with 25 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 36 fast break points.

The Chargers travel to Plymouth State University for a non-conference matchup against the Panthers on Wednesday at 7pm.
