NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team picked up their sixth win of the season on Saturday, as they took down Fitchburg State 78-62. The Chargers improve their record to 6-0.
Rapid Recap:
- Junior Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) kicked off the scoring in the first quarter with a made layup, but seconds later the Falcons responded with a layup of their own to tie the game early. The Falcons would nail a three-pointer with 7:17 left in the quarter to take a 7-6 lead over the Chargers. Sophomore Emma Felker (Dracut, Mass.) kept the Chargers within two points with a made three-pointer followed by another three-pointer coming from sophomore Delaney Raymond (Lyndon, Vt.) to cut the Falcons lead to one point with 3:47 left in the first quarter. The Falcons continued to make shots of their own as they took an 18-17 lead at the end of the quarter.
- The Falcons went on a 7-2 run before Brewster made a layup to halt the run as the Falcons led the Chargers 25-21 with 6:52 left in the second quarter. A three-pointer by first-year Hayden Wilkins (North Concord, Vt.) would spark a 9-0 for the Chargers as first-year Emma Greenan (Saint Johnsbury, Vt.) would chip in a layup and Raymond would add a free throw as the Chargers took a 30-25 lead with 3:35 left to play. The Chargers and Falcons would continue to trade buckets back-and-forth for the remainder of the quarter as the Chargers took a 35-30 lead heading into halftime.
- Junior Makenna Grillone (Walpole, N.H.) would kick off the second half for the Chargers nailing a three-pointer, but the Falcons would respond with a layup, as they trailed the Chargers 38-32 with 8:00 minutes to play in the third quarter. The Falcons would continue to chip away at the Chargers lead, but a made layup by Raymond would give the Chargers a 17-0 to for the remainder of the quarter with first-year Molly Denis (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) hit a three-pointer, while Felker added two more three-pointers giving the Chargers a commanding 55-35 lead at the end of the third quarter.
- The Chargers continued to extend their lead with Raymond nailing a three-pointer to start the final quarter. The Falcons would go on a quick 5-0 run before sophomore Larissa Daigle (Fort Kent, Maine) would hit a three-pointer to give the home team a 21-point lead with 8:30 left to go. The Falcons would continue to battle with the Chargers, but were unable to cut the Chargers 16-point lead as the Chargers would come away with the 78-62 win.

- Brewster led the way for the Chargers with 16 points (7-13 FG, 2-23 FT), nine rebounds, and six assists while Mitchell recorded another double with 12 points (6-10 FG), 12 rebounds, and two steals. Raymond chipped in 12 points (4-5 FG, 3-4 3 PT, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, and three assists as Felker tallied 12 points ( 4-8 FG, 4-8 3 PT), four rebounds, and one assist. Wilkins added seven points (2-4 FG, 1-2 3 PT, 2-2 FT), two assists, and one steal.
- Rylie Harlow led the way for the Falcons with 20 points (7-15 FG, 1-6 3 PT, 5-7 FT), three rebounds, and two steals, while Stephanie Hart recorded 10 points (3-6 FG, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, and one assist.
- The Chargers held 36-28 points in the paint margin while taking advantage of a 38-18 bench points margin in Saturday's win.

The Chargers return to action on Monday when they travel to Dudley, Massachusetts to take on the Bison of Nichols College with a 5:00 PM start.
