Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

RAMS HAND CHARGERS FIRST HOME LOSS, 79-63

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team hosted old conference foe, Suffolk University Rams Friday night in a now non-conference match-up that would see the Chargers facing defeat by a score of 79-63.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Rams started off hot, opening the game on a 13-2 run, led by Keenan Robertson getting some quick baskets and knocking down back to back threes. While on the other end, the Chargers could not buy a bucket missing their first four shots.
  • The Rams would continue to open the game up while the Chargers were trying to fight from behind and find their groove to at least find their way back. In that effort, the Chargers would hit 3 three pointers in a row to start and find some sort of groove. Bryson Jenkins (Gary, Ind.) would string together five quick points after that barrage of threes with Chaz Cullum (Omaha, Neb.) still trying to run the defense and facilitating the ball on offense. The Chargers strong efforts would not fully pay off as the Rams just continued to pile on the points each possession as Danny Yardemian really got going scoring ten points in the last 8 minutes.
  •  Nick Grant (Houston, Texas) started the second half for the Chargers dropping in a couple points while Sadiq Abdullahi (Homestead, Fla.) would also get the Chargers second half going in the point department. The Chargers would always cut the lead to 15, and then the Rams would go on another mini run to extend their lead. Jake Gomez would get going for the Rams as Keenan Robertson would continue his strong offensive showing. Cha'mar Martin (Columbia, S.C.) would score a slew of fast break points for the Chargers to keep the intensity up and morale high as the crowd was still getting loud behind every bucket.
  • Eventually, both teams would empty the benches, with first year Brady Rogers (Newfields, N.H.) picking off three steals right off the bench while Logan Lapierre-Caissie (Brantford, Ontario) knocked down a three that electrified the gym. The final horn would buzz, as the scoreboard read 79-63 in favor of the Rams.
Inside the Numbers:
  • Keenan Robertson of the Rams led all scorers with 21 points, on 80 percent from the field. Jake Gomez would pick up a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, with 6 of those being offensive boards.
  • Chaz Cullum would lead the Chargers in scoring as he picked up 12 points, as well as picking up 4 assists and 3 steals. Right behind him was Emmanuel "Rip" Adarkwa (Lawrenceville, GA) who went a perfect 3-3 from the field and 3-3 from the line to notch 10 points.
  • The Rams would out rebound the Chargers 41-16, while the Chargers bench outscored the Rams 31-19.
