NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball picked up their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game of the season defeating Dean by a 77-37 final.
Rapid Recap:
- Sophomore Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) kicked off the game finishing a layup by junior Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine). The Bulldogs countered with a 5-0 run to take the lead. First year Bree Lawrence (Swanzey, N.H.) stopped the run with a driving layup, but a pair of free throws kept Dean in front 7-4. Junior Courtney Brewster (Castleton, Vt.) added an and-one bucket to knot the game at 7-7. Holt added three free throws and and triple as the Chargers held a 13-9 lead into the second.
- Mitchell knocked down a jumper from the elbow to spark a 6-0 run with five shots all coming from the free throw line. Lucertini laced a three with 5:24 to go in the first half to kick start a closing 29-4 run highlighted by six three coming between Lucertini, junior Megan Molettieri (Pelham, N.H.) and Holt to earn a 47-21 lead into the break.
- Lawrence netted a three-pointer part of another 8-0 run to extend the lead to 32 points. The Bulldogs closed on a 7-0 to trim the lead to just 55-30 headed into the final 10 minutes.
- In the fourth quarter started with five more points to trim it to just 20 points, but first year Emma Felker (Dracut, Mass.) stopped the bleeding with her first collegiate three-pointer. Lawrence added a mid-range jumper before senior Grace Lister (Orford, N.H.) finished home a hook shot to extend the lead back to 27. Felker nailed another three as part of a closing 15-2 run with three-pointers by first year Larissa Daigle (Fort Kent, Maine) and sophomore Lauren McKee (Littleton, N.H.) as the Chargers pulled away for the 40 point win.

Bree Lawrence (Swanzey, N.H.). "We have been working hard every single practice and in all of our games and it just feels great to get that first conference win. I think this win will motivate us to really push hard and continue to work for wins in the conference."
Inside the Numbers:
- Lawrence played crucial minutes for the Chargers scoring nine points (4-6 FG, 1-2 3PT) to go with three steals and a block. Lucertini tallied a team-high 14 points (5-10 FG, 2-7 3PT, 2-4 FT) to go with three boards and a steal. Holt followed with 12 points (3-9 FG, 3-8 3PT, 3-3 FT) and three assists while Brewster filled the stat sheet with seven points (3-3 FG, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, five blocks, six assists and three steals.
- Maranda Cournoyer was the only Bulldog to reach double figures with 10 points (4-13 FG, 2-4 FT).
- The Chargers knocked home a season-high 12 threes at a 35.3% from behind the arc, while also dishing 21 assists in the win.
