NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team dropped to 2-5-3 on the season on Saturday after dropping a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match to Dean by a 4-1 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Bulldogs had the first couple chances, getting a pair of shots on target in the 14th and 17th minute both saved by sophomore Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.). In the 35th minute Dean finally got on the scoreboard as Sean Doherty finished a penalty past Bartolon to give the visitors the lead. Junior Ryan Wilson (Mattapoisett, Mass.) answered just a minute later off a miss touch by the defense to deposit the ball into the bottom left corner to knot the game at 1-1. Both teams had a chance late in the half, but went into the break even.
- The lead went to the visitors in the 51st minute as Doherty found a pass from Jake Richard to beat Bartolon. After an near equalizer by Wilson in the 62nd minute the Bulldogs added another goal as Melvin Alves finished a goal on a beautiful find by Bennett Walsh. First year Brayden Rapoza (New Durham, N.H.) had an attempt for the Chargers, but drifted off target in the 74th minute and 11 minutes later the visitors but the nail in the coffin with another goal as Chris Tunley scored on a pass from Tyreese Ferguson to end the game at 4-1.
Inside the Numbers:
- Wilson tabbed his second goal of the year for the Chargers
- Bartolon stopped seven shots in the loss.
- Dean out shot the Chargers 16-7 with a 11-1 on target differential.
