NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team were met evenly against Mitchell College Saturday afternoon, 1-1 in regulation time.
Rapid Recap:
- The two teams began the match quickly, registering shots both on and off target. The Chargers began with a shot from first year Kaden Lewis (Lunenburg, Mass.), which was quickly followed with a sophomore Brandon Mejia (West Palm Beach, Fla.). The visitors reacted with two quick shots from Nick Forst and Noslin Antunez. A quick shot from first year David Herrara (Kissimmee, Fla.) would ignite a momentum turn for the Chargers, Lewis would get a breakaway opportunity and finish the play finding the back of the net to bring the Chargers up 1-0 in the 24th minute. The half would be Charger heavy with the squad registering four more shots, with on being directly on target from junior Ryan Wilson (Mattapoisett, Mass.).
- The Mariners would use halftime as a spark to respond, quickly firing two off target shots from Forst and Dylan Lucey. A cross from Mcwill Adu Asare would lead to a goal from Gianmarco M.C. Delacruz. The evening goal would cause two on target shots from the Chargers, one from junior Jonathan Platti (North Granby, Conn.) and the second from Mejia. A series of corner kicks for the visitors would threaten to break the tie but the Chargers would hold on to record their second conference draw.
Inside the Numbers:
- Lewis led the offense with one goal on the evening, but was followed closely by Meija who registered four shots on the afternoon.
- Bartolon registered two saves with one goal allowed.
- The Chargers held a 16-9 shot differential with six shots on target while the Mariners only had three shots on goal.
