NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer were triumphant on Saturday defeating Lasell by a 2-1 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Lasers started off with all the momentum getting an opening shot in the 11th minute that was turned away by sophomore Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.). In the 13th minute Lasell took the advantage as Daniel Faynstein rocketed a shot past Bartolon on an assist by Jonathan Leone. The Chargers continued to battle back firing off a pair of shots by first year Kaden Lewis (Lunenburg, Mass.) and first year Brayden Rapoza (New Durham, N.H.) both had a shot on target with two saves. Both teams battled for the remaining 11 minutes, but went into the half with the visitors on top 1-0.
- The second half started with Jaydon Perez picking up a yellow card and another big save by Bartolon. The momentum finally shifted in the 59th minute as sophomore Brandon Mejia (West Palm Beach, Fla.) finished a beautful feed from Lewis to even the score. The Chargers stayed agressive and 11 minutes later drew a handball in the box off a corner to get a penalty kick. Junior Ryan Wilson (Mattapoiset, Mass.) stepped up to the dot and delivered to give the Chargers the lead. The Lasers had one final attempt in the 84rd minute, but Bartolon made the stop as the Chargers held on for the win.
