Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Rally Not Enough as Chargers Fall to Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell Wednesday evening by a 2-1 final to Elms.

Rapid Recap:

  • The Chargers and Blazers battled in the early going with both goalkeepers making an early save. Elms struck first in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup Wednesday evening, with Brandyn Costa notching a high-center goal fed from a pass from Jimmy Maznicki. In the half Colby-Sawyer would tally nine first half shots, with three on target, while the Blazers would only take two shots with one finding the back of the net.
  • The Chargers came out of halftime aggressively with three early shots, and one being on target. Collin Liedke kept Elms in front making another save against junior Jah Gordon (Pittsfield, N.H.), before the Blazers doubled the lead as Patricio Vidales bested sophomore Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) off a Brandyn Costa assist. The Chargers would respond as first year Judson DiMaria (Acton, Mass.) registered an upper 90 goal in the 80th minute. The Chargers would look to get the tie with a late shot from first year Cullen Visscher (Katy, Texas) in the 87th minute but the shot would be saved by the Liedke to hold the Blazer win.

Inside the Numbers:

  • DiMaria led the offensive attack with a goal on the evening.
  • Bartolon registered five saves on the evening with two goals allowed.
  • The Chargers held a 15-10 shot differential, with both teams having 8 shots on target.
