Chargers Fall Against Tufts University

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team fell in a nonconference matchup to Tufts University by a 91-54 final on Tuesday night.
Rapid Recap: 
  • The Jumbos jumped ahead by a 9-0 margin which was stopped by a contested jumper by senior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) followed by another finish in the paint by sophomore Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.). Tufts countered by jumping the lead into double digits leading 27-9. The Chargers got some offense back off the bench as first year Sadiq Abdullahi (Homestead, Fla.) poured in seven-straight points to just the lead to just 11. Cummings and Abdullahi continued to succeed hitting consecutive threes, but the home team stayed strong pushing the lead to 47-26 headed into the break. 
  • The second half started with back and forth scoring as Lampron netted a jumper followed by a Cummings triple. The Chargers continued to battle with back-to-back dunks by senior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) and Cummings, but the lead stayed at 18 with 15:26 to play. First year Daniel Jordan (Coral Springs, Fla.) had a good showing late in the second half burying two three-pointers and a pair of shots from the charity stripe, but the Jumbos held strong winning the game by a wide margin. 
Stats & Figures:
  • Cummings led the Colby-Sawyer scorers with 13 points (5-14 FG, 2-8 3-FG, 1-2 FT) to go with four rebounds and a pair of helpers. Abdullahi had a good showing off the bench with 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-3 3-FG) in 27 minutes. Lampron netted nine points (3-4 FG, 1-1 3-FG, 2-2 FT) to go with three steals. Jordan added eight points (2-7 FG, 2-4 3-FG, 2-2 FT), three swipes and three rebounds. 
  • James Morakis led the Jumbos with 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 3-FG), five rebounds and five assists.

The Chargers will head to Paxton, Mass. to face off with Anna Maria College on Saturday with a 12:00 PM start.
