Chargers Drop GNAC Contest to Saint Joseph's College of Maine

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team dropped a crucial Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match up to the Saint Joseph's College of Maine by a 74-67 final.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers jumped ahead 6-2 after a pair of buckets by senior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) and a jumper by senior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.). The Monks caught back up knotting the game at 14-14, where Lampron knocked down a triple to keep the home team in front. The Monks countered with an impressive 15-0 streak to take a 29-17 lead stopped by a three by senior Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.). The Monks would grow the lead to as many as 15, but a layup by sophomore Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) in the closing seconds cut the Charger deficit to 35-22 heading into the break.
  • The second half started with a 8-0 run as Boone and Lampron knocked down triples and senior Terrence Harvey Jr. (Atlanta, Ga.) made another jumper. Another spurt by the Chargers cut the deficit to just a single bucket, but the Monks bounced back with five-straight to hold control. Cummings made another layup with 9:49 left to cut the lead to six points, but the Monks punched back with eight-straight points to lead by a 59-45 margin. Cummings responded with a three-pointer, but Saint Joseph's College of Maine punched right back with with four-straight points to push the lead up to 17. Colby-Sawyer made one final push with a 17-5 run to trim the lead to 72-67 with 19 seconds remaining, but the Monks beat the Chargers' trap and made the clutch free throws to hold on.
