PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell Saturday afternoon by a 6-2 final to Johnson and Wales.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers got on the scoreboard first and early Saturday afternoon off an own goal from a misplay from the Wildcats keeper. The two teams would continue to battle in the first half until the 25th minute where a feed from Jonathan Baker, and goal from Aidan Bagley would shift momentum in favor of the Wildcats. Bagley would shortly return the favor to Baker who would put the Wildcats up 2-1 in the 29th minute. The Wildcats kept their feet on the gas scoring their third goal six minutes later with a chip shot from Lloyd Guyton. The half would end with a corner kick from the Wildcats who threatened to score again.
- The Wildcats would continue their dominant performance into the second half scoring their fourth goal 13 minutes into the half with Bagley recording his second goal of the afternoon. The Chargers would battle back with a shot from first year Cullen Visscher (Katy, Texas) which allowed for an opening for junior Ryan Wilson (Mattapoisett, Mass.) to find the back of the net and bring the score to 2-4 in the 66th minute. Two minutes later the Wildcats would breakthrough the Chargers defense to bring their lead back up to three with Guyton scoring his second of the match. The midfield would battle for possession after the score but a Wildcats corner in the 71st minute would allow for the final goal of the afternoon to be recorded from Baker.
Inside the Numbers:
- Wilson led the offense with one goal on the afternoon.
- Bartolon would record the loss with three goals against, and first year Alex Gomez-Agudelo (Mesquite, Texas) would record five saves and three goals against.
- The Wildcats held a 22-7 shot advantage with a 11-3 on target differential.
