Chargers Shut Down by Anna Maria 1-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell 1-0 Wednesday afternoon against Anna Maria.

Rapid Recap:
  • The AMCATS jumped ahead early as they capitalized off of an early string of corner kicks with Rubelsi Moran finding the back of the net from Mark Cavallaro. The Chargers would look to respond applying pressure within the midfield before finding a through ball to first year Kaden Lewis (Lunenburg, Mass.) who fired a shot on target to be saved by the keeper. The AMCATS would earn posession back late in the half to get off one more shot on net which was saved by first year Alex Gomez-Agudelo (Mesquite, Texas).
  • The Chargers would come out of halftime seeking a score with two quick shots from first year Judson DiMaria (Acton, Mass.) and first year David Herrera (Kississmee, Fla.) both rejected by the AMCATS keeper. The teams would continue the midfield pressure before the AMCATS would have a great look on net, but Gomez-Agudelo made a key save at the 58th minute mark to keep the score at 1-0. A pair of yellow cards on the AMCATS would allow for a momentum shift to the Chargers would fired five consecutive shots, on and off target to be stopped by Santiago. The Chargers would get two late looks from corners but were unable to convert down the stretch.
Inside the Numbers:
  • Gomez-Agudelo would start his first collegiate match and play the full 90, recording three saves and allowing one goal.
