NEW LONDON, N.H. – Colby-Sawyer Director of Athletics
Mitch Capelle announced on Friday that Alex Artus will be the next director of rugby and women's rugby head coach.
"We are delighted to welcome Alex to the Colby-Sawyer family," said Capelle. "His energy and passion for the sport of rugby is unmatched and will be an asset to our student-athletes, program, and community."
Artus joins the Chargers after being the women's rugby head coach at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania for the past four years. At Kutztown, Artus finished with an overall record of 18-17 including a 5-7 record in 2021-22 finishing the year sixth overall at the national Collegiate Rugby Championships.
"This has been a bit of a whirlwind experience with everything happening fast", said Artus. "Stepping onto the beautiful campus and getting to meet such wonderful people, helped to make the decision to join the Colby-Sawyer family easy. I can't wait to get up there and start working with, and getting to know the team."
Prior to Kutztown, Artus served as the head coach of Millersville University men's club team for one season. Alex has played rugby since high school, playing on multiple high school select sides before attending Kutztown University. At KU, Alex played for the Golden Bears for three years before being sidelined by surgery his senior year.
