Ben Jones - Cross Country and Track & Field
What year did you graduate from Colby-Sawyer and what was your major?
I graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
What is your current profession?
I currently work as a registered nurse at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center on 2 West Inpatient Surgery.
What was your favorite Colby-Sawyer memory on and off the playing surface?
It is tough to choose just one memory,.. I really enjoyed Liam, Peter, and I going sub-16 at Regis College in the 5K, winning the GNAC Championship at St. Joes, finally breaking 27 at Bowdoin College, long runs, preseasons, ice baths, and the numerous games we played during runs.
What was your Colby-Sawyer experience like?
I really enjoyed my Colby-Sawyer experience. The area if full of beautiful mountains and lakes. I worked on athletics and academics, learning from great coaches and professors.
What would you tell future or current Chargers?
In the words of my college coach Lyndsay Ostler, "It's a great day to be a Charger!" Continue to work hard and enjoy the long run!
Madison Johansson - Field Hockey & Women's Lacrosse
What year did you graduate from Colby-Sawyer and what was your major?
I graduated from Colby Sawyer in December of 2020. I was a Child Development Education prep major.
What is your current profession(s)?
I am currently working as a fifth grade teacher in the Kearsarge school district. I specifically work at Sutton School. I am also a JV lacrosse coach or Kearsarge High School.
What was your favorite Colby-Sawyer memory on and off the playing surface?
I think that one of my favorite memories on the field was at a field hockey practice my sophomore year. Our coach brought out a tarp and had us practice tipping the ball into the net by setting up a slip n slide. We had to slide to the net and try to tip the ball in to score. Off the field there were so many things that I enjoyed doing with my friends but I
always enjoyed going to support other sports teams.
What was your Colby-Sawyer experience like?
When I was at Colby Sawyer I experienced a lot of teacher support. I felt safe being able to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. While I had my core group of friends I always found that the people at Colby Sawyer were pretty willing to get to know everyone around them. It wasn't only the people you played a sport with or were in a club with who were your friends.
What would you tell future or current Chargers?
When you go to Colby Sawyer be open to the opportunities that the school provides. Get to know people who may not have the same initial interests as you. Finally, be willing to step away from something you find comfortable because there are so many people that want to see you be successful and will support you.
