FIELD HOCKEY TAKE DOWN MONKS IN GNAC SEMIFINALS

Standish, Maine – The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team returns to the GNAC Championship Game for the third time in five years, after beating Saint Joseph's College of Maine 2-0 on Wednesday. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • The Chargers were off to a fast start, as Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) gave the Chargers an early lead in the semi-final matchup off a Jillian Fredette (Weare, N.H.) assist. 

  • The second quarter would have no goals, but Addy Araneo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) would make three saves as the Chargers entered the halftime break winning 1-0. 

  • With about two minutes left in the third quarter, Fredette would assist Farquhar again to double the Charger lead. 

  • Araneo made one save in the fourth quarter, securing the shutout, the win, and a spot in the conference final. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • With two goals on the day, Farquhar extends her scoring streak to six consecutive games. 

  • Fredette's two assists increases her season total to 14. 

  • The win advances the Chargers to their third GNAC Championship game in program history. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will travel to Franklin, Massachusetts on Saturday to take on Dean College in the GNAC Championship Game at 1pm.
