FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer Chargers split a tri-match at Dean College dropping the first contest by a 3-1 (25-17, 25-19, 25-27, 25-7) to Regis College, before ending the day with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 26-24) victory over Dean College.
Rapid Recap Regis:
- The Chargers had the first significant lead of the day going on a 3-0 run to lead 6-4. The Pride countered with a 6-1 run to storm ahead by a 10-7 margin. Colby-Sawyer continued to battle keeping the game close trailing 15-14 before Regis College closed the set on a 12-3 run to take a 25-17 win.
- The Pride success continued early in the second set using a 6-1 spurt to double up the Chargers 10-5. The Chargers battled back using a 3-0 advantage of their own highlighted by a senior Orlando Plagata (Los Angeles, Calif.) kill to get the game to 12-10. Another 6-2 bolt by Regis put the game back out of reach 18-12 eventually leading to the Pride having a 2-0 set lead.
- The third set went back and forth with Regis taking a 22-19 lead late into the set. Colby-Sawyer countered with three straight points including a pair of kills by senior Eric Miller (La Grange, Ill.) to knot the game at 22-22. The game would need extra points as Colby-Sawyer came back from being down 24-23 getting back-to-back points, started off by a kill from Plagata. Regis tied the game at 25-25 when the Chargers finished off the Pride with two more points with Plagata getting a kill, followed by a service ace.
- In set four the Pride took control rattling home a 14-0 run, before defeating the Chargers 25-7.
Rapid Recap Dean:
- The Chargers took control early taking a 8-1 lead including three-straight kills by Plagata. The Chargers continued the surge using another 6-1 a kill and a service ace from first year Andreas Bump (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands). The Chargers closed things out 25-16 to take the first set.
- The Chargers continued the success in the second set jumping ahead early 10-3 behind four more kills by Plagata. The Chargers used another 7-0 spurt later in the set to give the visitors a 21-8 lead en route to a 25-10 set win.
- The third set went back and forth with each team not able to take full control. Late in the set the Chargers stormed back from being down 16-14 rattling off five of the next six points to get a 19-17 advantage. The Bulldogs battled back knotting the game back at 24-24, but the Chargers scored back-to-back points finished off by a Miller kill to pick up the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win.

Orlando Plagata. "It means the program is starting to take steps in the right direction and now we're that much closer to finding a spot in the GNAC playoffs."
Notes & Notables:
- The victory over Dean marks the first GNAC win in men's volleyball program history and moves the Chargers into 7th place in the GNAC standings.
- Plagata ended the day with 21 kills to lead the Chargers to go along with 18 digs. Miller followed with 18 kills, nine digs and a pair of service aces.
- First year Lucas Lizotte (Hampstead, N.H.) had a big day setting with 48 assists over the two game stretch with three kills and 10 digs.
