Scott Lampron's Career High 38 Points Lifts Chargers Over Raiders 76-65

NASHUA, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team picked up a huge win on Wednesday night against inner-state foe Rivier University by a 76-65 final. The Chargers were  led by junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) pouring in a career-high 38 points.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers and Raiders traded baskets early with the visitors taking an early 7-4 lead following a first year Dylan Santosuosso (Pelham, N.H.) triple followed by a jumper by junior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas).
  • The visitors jumped the lead to 25-18 thanks to six-straight points by Boone including a thunderous dunk off the baseline. The Raiders would use a last run to trim the lead to just three, but a closing finish in the paint by Lampron gave the Chargers a two possession advantage heading into the break.
  • In the second half the scoring picked up, with neither team being able to take advantage. Rivier would use a 6-0 advantage at the midway point of the second half to jump ahead for the first time since early first half leading by a 47-46 margin. Lampron stopped the Raiders' momentum in its tracks scoring next 13 points for the Chargers and giving the visitors a 57-54 lead with 6:10 left.
  • It was Boone's turn next, scoring the next six points for Colby-Sawyer and giving the Chargers a seven point advantage with 4:06 remaining. In the clutch the ball found Lampron again, scoring 10 of the last 11 points for the Chargers and giving Colby-Sawyer the massive road victory.
Player Spotlight:

"I give all the credit to my teammates", said Scott Lampron. "Without them I wouldn't have been able to have this career night. We needed this win badly and it took a team effort to get it."

Notes & Notables:
  • Lampron's 38 points (14-21 FG, 3-7 3-PT, 7-8 FT) has him tied for tenth in the record books for a single-scoring game at Colby-Sawyer College. Lampron also grabbed eight rebounds and dished a pair of assists in the win.
  • Boone registered his third double-double of the year scoring 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-5 FT) and collecting 11 rebounds. Junior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) added his second double-double of the season with 10 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3-PT, 0-2 FT) and 12 rebounds.
  • Miles Gillette led the Raiders with 29 points and 14 rebounds.
  • With the victory the Chargers jump Rivier to regain the 10th seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) standings headed into the final three games.
