NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team dropped its fifth-straight home game in a 93-67 loss to Albertus Magnus College.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers and Falcons battled from the opening tip and after a pair of three-pointers first from junior Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.), followed by first year Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) the home team saw a 8-7 advantage. A 6-0 counter from the Falcons got the lead to five and after another 7-0 run the lead saw double-digits for the first time at 22-12. A three-point play from junior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) halted the run momentarily, but another 6-0 surge put the Falcons up 13 with 8:16 to go in the first half.
- Junior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) paused the Falcons momentum scoring nine of the Chargers final 15 points including a six points coming in the paint to cut the game to 37-29. A last second triple gave the Falcons gave them an eleven point advantage into the break.
- The second half started with the Falcons flying high going on a statement 10-0 run in three minutes of action to jump the lead to 50-29. Boone would counter with an and-one bucket followed by a pair of free throws later on drop the lead to 16 points, but Albertus Magnus continued to attack the paint using another 8-0 run to get the game to 62-39 with 12:35 left.
- A Kelly 6-0 run dropped the lead back down to 17 points, but the Falcons continued to use a balanced attack to finish off the Chargers and pick up the victory.
Notes & Notables:
- Boone netted a new career-high with 27 points (9-17 FG, 1-4 3-PT, 8-9 FT) while also grabbing nine rebounds and throwing down his first dunk at home this season.
- Junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) tallied 12 points (5-15 FG, 1-4 3-PT, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, and a pair of assists. Kelly added 11 points (4-7 FG, 0-1 3-PT, 3-3 FT) and four rebounds.
- For the teams stats the jarring statistic is the points off turnovers as Albertus Magnus scored 32 points off of 19 Charger turnovers, while Colby-Sawyer only managed eight points off of 13 Falcon turnovers.
- Davon Warner led the Falcons with 23 points and three steals.
- The Chargers sit in the 11th seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with only a pair of games remaining in the 2021-22 season.
