STANDISH, Maine – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team won its third-straight game on the road defeating the Monks by a 94-83 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The teams traded baskets with the first real advantage going to the Monks taking a 17-12 lead. A 9-0 counter led by two three-point baskets first year Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.). The Monks battled back taking a 8-0 advantage to retake the lead. Senior Deondre Smith (Garland, Texas) capped off a quick 5-0 spurt to knot the game at 25-25 with 9:00 to go in the first half.
- A 13-4 Charger run ensued highlighted by six points by junior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) including a poster slam. The teams would continue to trade buckets with the Monks chipping away at the lead. The Chargers held on closing the half with a 47-46 lead into the break.
- Colby-Sawyer stormed out of the gate in the second half going on a 10-0 run. Junior Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.) started off the run knocking down a quick triple which was followed by another Cummings three. The run was finished off by a junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) jumper to extend the lead to 57-46.
- The Monks cut the deficit to five with a pair from behind the arc, but Boone answered with five points of his own and put the lead back at double-digits.
- With 11:08 remaining after a Cummings dunk the visitors responded with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 72-68, before junior Deonte Flowers (Sumter, S.C.) hit a huge three to keep the momentum in the Charger favor with 6:25 remaining.
- A pair of free throws from Boone put the Chargers up 12 with 3:45 left. The Monks pulled out one final attempt at a comeback with a 7-0 run to get the game back to 83-78, but Lampron answered in the clutch again netting six points and a big time steal in the final 2:03 to give the Chargers the much needed win.

"They beat us last time we played them, so we wanted to get back at them," said
Kevin Cummings. "We never want to lose to the same team twice and this win helped accomplish that. It was a total team win with everyone stepping up."
Notes & Notables:
- Cummings ended his shooting slump tying his career-high with 23 points (8-10 FG, 4-6 3-PT, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and a pair of steals. Lampron continued his stellar play as of late scoring 21 points (6-12 FG, 2-5 3-PT, 7-8 FT), while adding five boards and three steals.
- The bench continues to shine for Colby-Sawyer as Boone registered 17 points (6-10 FG, 1-3 3-PT, 4-4 FT) and eight rebounds, while Smith added nine points (4-7 FG, 0-1 3-PT, 1-1 FT) and five assists as the tandem continues to shine for the second unit.
- The Chargers capitalized off turnovers tonight scoring 22 points off of 14 Monks turnovers, while also getting to the rim netting 40 points in the paint. Colby-Sawyer also was efficient tonight shooting a season-high 60.7% (34-56) from the field including 47.4% (9-19) from behind the arc.
- Nicholas Curtis paced the Monks scoring a game-high 27 points on 11-21 from the field.
- The Chargers move up two spots in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) standings holding the ninth seed currently. The Chargers still hold a possibility of the eighth seed and a home playoff game.

Colby-Sawyer will end the regular season on Saturday as the Chargers host the current eighth seed in Regis College with a 3:00 PM start time. Senior
Deondre Smith will also be recognized before the game as part of senior day festivities.
