NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team dropped its contest to Regis College by a 75-62 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers started slow falling behind 8-0 to the Pride, before first year Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) stopped the run knocking down a three. Colby-Sawyer continued to battle back going on a 7-0 run highlighted by a junior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) fast break jam to knot the game at 12-12.The Pride retaliated getting the lead back to five before junior Deonte Flowers (Sumter, S.C.) answered with five-straight points on his own.
- The game remained close at the tail-end of the first half with junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) knocking down a three with 3:19 to go to give Colby-Sawyer their first lead of the night at 27-25. The Pride answered with a 7-0 run, stopped by five-straight by the home to team to end the first half with a 32-32 draw.
- In the second half Regis regained the momentum jumping up 45-38. Cummings responded again netting his third triple to get the lead back to four points. The Pride countered with 9-3 run propelling them to a 54-44 lead with 10:08 remaining.
- After junior Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.) finished in the paint, the Pride used another 8-2 run to give Regis a game-high 14 point lead with 6:24 left on the clock. A Cummings three cut the lead to 62-55, but the Pride responded against the Colby-Sawyer trap defense to put the game away.
Notes & Notables:
- Cummings ended the game as the Chargers leading scorer with 16 points (5-11 FG, 4-10 3-PT, 2-2 FT) to go with four rebounds. Lampron rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3-PT, 1-2 FT) with four rebounds and a pair of helpers. Caraballo notched one of his best games of the season putting up eight points (3-6 FG, 0-1 3-PT, 2-2 FT) eight rebounds and four assists. Flowers also was a key player off the bench for Colby-Sawyer netting seven points (3-5 FG, 1-1 3-PT) to go with four boards. Junior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) added another all-around outing with six points (3-7 FG), five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
- Marc Trinidad led the Pride with 27 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
- On the team stat side Regis used 24 points off of 17 Charger turnovers as the key to the victory, while Colby-Sawyer's bench continues to give great minutes with 21 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists coming from the reserves in the loss.

Colby-Sawyer claimed the 10th seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) standings and will head down to Weston, Mass for a rematch against the Pride on Tuesday February 22nd with a 7:00 PM tipoff.
