Box Score CHICOPEE, MASS. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team battled till the end against the Blazers of Elms College in the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament, falling 66-55 and ending their 2021-22 basketball season.
Rapid Recap:
- The Blazers ran a quick 6-0 lead on the Chargers to start the first quarter until a jumper by first-year Marissa Holt with help from junior Sydney Stevens ended their run. A made layup by first-year Natalie Panagrosso and an assist from junior Lia Raynowska put the Chargers trailing 24-13 in the tail end of the first quarter.
- Down by 13, junior Emily Parent sank her third three of the night to start the Chargers comeback in the second quarter. Then, a huge defensive block by sophomore Grace Lister sparked her six-point run in less than a minute span. The Chargers headed into halftime trailing the Blazers by only eight.
- After the halftime break, the women jumped out the gates with two made three's from Parent with helpers from junior Courtney Brewster and first-year Marissa Holt to put the Chargers down by two. Later in the quarter, Brewster collected a made three from the corner to tie the game up with less than two minutes on the board.
- The fourth quarter started with a 51-47 score, Elms advantage. A made layup with an assist from Stevens stopped the Blazers nine-point run to set the score 60-49. From there, the Charger offense struggled, only putting up another four points to drop the playoff match 66-55.
Notes & Notables:
- Parent led the way with 18 points, six rebounds, and one assist.
- Lister came up big off the bench, earning 11 total points, five rebounds, and an impactful block.
- Brewster had an incredible defensive day with three steals and five rebounds. She also put up eight points and collected two assists.

The Colby-Sawyer Chargers ended their 2021-22 rein with a 3-19 overall record, and 3-12 conference record with wins coming from Johnson & Wales University, and two from Anna Maria College.
