NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer Chargers protected home court on Thursday night picking up a 69-48 victory over Anna Maria College.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers jumped ahead early taking a 10-2 advantage highlighted by a pair of three-pointers first by first year Gabby Lucertini (Branford, Conn.) and followed by first year Megan Molettieri (Pelham, N.H.). Molettieri continued the hot shooting knocking down three more triple to erupt the crowd early and give the Chargers a 19-9 lead in the first.
- A late foul bailed out the AMCATS to cut the deficit to seven points heading into the second quarter. Colby-Sawyer continued to add to their lead getting the game up to 29-17, before Anna Maria countered on a 13-0 run to take their first lead of the night. Junior Lia Raynowska (Brentwood, N.H.) stopped the run and gave the Chargers back the lead finishing a driving layup before knocking down a pair of free throws to give Colby-Sawyer a 33-30 lead heading into the break.
- Junior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) started off the third quarter with a pair from downtown to extend the Chargers lead to 39-30. The AMCATS countered going on a 9-4 run stopped by back-to-back buckets by first year Courtney Brewster (Castleton, Vt.) hold the home team lead to 47-39. The Chargers continued to build the lead and after a Lucertini floater the home team saw a 54-44 heading into the final frame.
- The lead continued to grow with a 7-0 run out of the break showcased by a Brewster fancy pass to first year Natalie Panagrosso (Wallingford, Conn.) for the score. Lucertini continued the onslaught nailing back-to-back buckets to give the Chargers a 65-45 lead midway through the fourth quarter. The Chargers closed out the game and picked up their first home win of the season.

Notes & Notables:
- Molettieri led the team in scoring pouring in 15 points (5-10 FG, 4-6 3-PT, 1-2 FT) and a pair of rebounds. Lucertini tallied 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-2 3-PT, 0-1 FT), eight rebounds and a pair of assists. Raynowska registered 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-4 FT) and seven boards, while Parent scored 12 points (4-16 FG, 3-12 3-PT), while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists. First year Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) finished off the double-double scorers with 10 points (5-11 FG, 0-2 3-PT, to go with four rebounds and three assists. Brewster also added a solid game finishing with six points (3-6 FG, 0-2 3-PT), eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
- Franchesca Hammond led the AMCATS putting up 15 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists.
- The Chargers dominated the paint today outscoring the AMCATS by a 38-14 margin, but the ball movement is the key to the game as Colby-Sawyer dished out 15 assists tripling the output from Anna Maria.
