Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Late Run in Third Set isn't Enough in 3-0 Loss to Blazers

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team faced the Blazers of Elms College for the second time in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match up on Tuesday afternoon.

RAPID RECAP:
  • First-year Christopher Huynh (Methuen, Mass.) collected the first Charger kill of the six produced in set one. Senior Orlando Plagata (Los Angeles, Calif.) was responsible for three of the remaining five with helpers from both Lucas Lizotte (Hampstead, N.H.) and senior AJ Gnieski (Needham, Mass.).
  • Graduate student Andrew Kovacs (Wellesley, Mass.) opened the second set earning a kill with an assist from Lizotte to give the Chargers an early advantage over the Blazers. After a quick six point run from Elms to take the lead, the Chargers trailed for the remaining of the set, dropping 25-11.
  • Looking for a set win, Plagata came out hot in the third set taking a 5-0 lead and collecting two serving aces. The Blazers attacks were too much to handle as the Chargers fell behind dropping their closest set of the match 25-20.
NOTES & NOTABLES:
  • Plagata led the Chargers with the most kills, serving aces, and digs (5 kills, 3 Aces, 9 Digs).
  • Lizotte provided a total of eight assists with two digs.
  • The team as a whole collected 15 kills, 15 assists, five serving aces, four blocks and 33 total digs.
