NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team picked up their first win of the season defeating Northern Vermont University - Johnson by a 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-16) final.
RAPID RECAP:
- The first set showcased a comeback victory as the Chargers trailed early 7-2 before first year Isaac Davies (Hinesburg, Vt.) broke a 23-23 tie with a service ace. The game would head into a best of two finished off by a graduate student Andrew Kovacs (Wellesley, Mass.) block to give the Chargers a 27-25 win.
- In the second set the Chargers stormed back from a 4-2 deficit using a 7-2 counter run to lead 10-6. From there the Chargers lead continued to grow finishing off the Badgers 25-14. First year Christopher Huynh (Methuen, Mass.) led the offensive attack with four kills in the second set. Huynh was followed by senior Orlando Plagata (Los Angeles, Calif.) and senior Eric Miller (La Grange, Ill.) who each added a pair of kills.
- In the third set the Chargers took control early seeing a 6-2 start kick started by a Plagata ace and ended with a Kovacs kill. The visitor lead grew to 19-11 before the Badgers made one final push scoring four-straight. Colby-Sawyer responded with a 6-1 closing run finished off by a Plagata service ace.

Cailyn Straubel. "We found success in more ways than one as we pieced together the many things we've been working on in practice. I'm looking forward to two more opportunities to do the same tomorrow."
NOTES & NOTABLES:
- Huynh had his best game as a Charger marking nine kills on a .500 kill percentage to go along with three digs. Kovacs finished second on the team in kills putting up four kills, four digs and the first set clinching block. Plagata continued his stellar season with three kills and seven digs.
- Senior AJ Gnieski (Needham, Mass.) led the team in assists, dishing out a season-high 10 assists, while first year libero Alfredo Hidalgo (Lawrence, Mass.) led the team in digs with a season-high nine.
- Zachary Anderson led the Badgers with 10 kills and five digs.
